Life Time Fitness - Turkey Day

Earn your day's indulgence at the Life Time Turkey Day 5K! Join family, friends and your community for a quick run, jog or walk through the San Francisco's city center. More than just a healthy start to the holiday, the TD5K is a fun way to give back while you give thanks. Proceeds benefit the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks, and each runner is asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the starting line.

The Life Time Turkey Day 5K San Francisco course is a real-world representation of the spirit of Thanksgiving: both an appreciation for what we have, and recognition of those who struggle.

We'll start at the ballpark home of our World Series champions and lead out along the waterfront, turning into our South of Market district, into the heart of the City, and finishing at City Hall. Runners will pass our most beautiful displays of public grandeur: the Ferry Building, Moscone Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, the Asian Art Museum and the Public Library.

Yet this course also showcases the tragedy of public poverty, passing several of the city's most active efforts to feed the hungry. Runners will see the work being done to take care of people who have nowhere else to go that day and, by passing en masse, will create a visual representation of the real care being delivered by the community. Every runner passing is more help coming from the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks.

Strollers are allowed, but must line up behind individual runners and walkers. Music players with headphones are allowed.

San Francisco and Marin Food Banks
Hunger is a serious problem in our community – with 1 in 5 children and 1 in 5 adults at risk of hunger in San Francisco and Marin. Every day, the Food Bank sources, collects, sorts, inspects and repackages thousands of pounds of food, then distributes it to soup kitchens, neighborhood grocery centers, school programs and seniors in need. The Food Bank serves over 225,000 people each year throughout San Francisco and Marin counties, and will distribute 44 million pounds of food to the community this year – enough for 104,000 meals every day. More than 50% of what is distributed is fresh fruits and vegetables.

8:00 a.m. 5K starts

Parking
Parking is available at Lot A on 3^rd at Channel street. Day parking costs $10, payable at the meter, and lasts until 6pm. Please arrive early to avoid delays.

Muni return service is available from the finish line at Civic Center station on Market St. Take inbound N or KT lines to the start line. KT inbound continues to Lot A directly.
